Singapore, for almost 200 years, has been at the crossroads of Southeast Asia, where many cultures and nationalities live, work, and more importantly, eat together. The cuisine of Singapore logically reflects this cultural diversity.

The four major culinary cultures – Malaysian / Indonesian, Chinese, Indian and Nonya – are in fact, a blend of each other, creating a new cuisine that is unique and more complex in flavors and fragrances. Straits Restaurant offers a menu that includes all four Singaporean cuisine groups, plus a few others.

Because we want you to feel welcome in our restaurant, we encourage you to make yourself at home and enjoy dishes together to share family-style.

Feel free to ask one of our staff any questions or for any special requests.

Ludacris is definitely not a co-owner by name. On any given night you can see him there greeting customers and just hanging out.

The food is moderately priced with reasonable portions. Guys will probably not get full, but the ladies should be ok. Singaporean food consists of many dishes served with chicken, beef, and rice.

The venue is large, consisting of a patio and two levels for eating; as well as seating for large parties.

The vibe is what really makes Straits and great place. DJs spin mellow hip hop and R&B, ranging from A Tribe Called Quest to Erykah Badu.

The downside to Straits is the small bar section. Straits hosts a popular happy hour on Tuesdays and draw a large after work crowd on Fridays. It gets pretty crowded around the bar and is hard to sift through the crowd.

Also, there is only valet and pay parking next to the restaurant. You may get lucky and find an open street space, but don't count on it.

Overall, we like Straits. Our advice, get there early if you only want drinks. If eating, just hang out, listen to some real urban music, and introduce yourself to Ludacris. He's a real down-to-earth dude.
